To begin, we work together to clarify your goals. I’ll listen as you explain your business insights, customers and even your competition. Next we’ll list the content required (images, text, ETC) to reach your goal, and we’ll establish a timeline for your project. Then, we’ll develop a sitemap, a document that lists the pages needed and how they will work together to make a site that offers all the features and functionality you want and to make a great user experience. Once the content is in place, I’ll begin the development phase. After initial development you’ll have a chance to review, edit, make some tweaks so it’s just what you want. Then we’ll test your site’s functionality to ensure all is working as designed. And finally, we’ll move your site to it’s live home with your web host.
All of my websites are developed using WordPress and the Divi premium theme from Elegant Themes. I use these tools because:
- Ability to customize with themes and plugins.
- It is inherently Search Engine Friendly
- WordPress is made with security built in and is under constant scrutiny from millions of developers worldwide
- WordPress is flexible and has been adapted to every type of website use by the largest corporations in the world
- Divi is easily one of the best and most popular premium themes available

THE BACKYARD BARN is owned by a very talented and creative husband and wife team. John and Angela Gray have been creating unique crafts and hand carved gourds in beautiful Upstate South Carolina for more than 30 years. The Backyard Barn needed a website to showcase their work as well as let customers know what shows and festivals they will be at. Motorcity Website Design built a site using WordPress and customizing a premium theme from Elegant Themes. This provides a solid and professional website, easy for users to navigate and easy for THE BACKYARD BARN to update themselves.
KIDS ON THE GO is a non-profit summer program for children with special needs that provides therapy to children in a fun “summer camp” setting. Insurance rarely covers therapy when school is out and private therapy is too costly for almost all families. KIDS ON THE GO provides this much-needed service at no charge to the families they serve. They are funded entirely by private and corporate donations. KIDS ON THE GO has been providing this service since 1999 and the need continues to grow each year. Motor City Website Design was contracted to design a website that allowed users to easily find out about the programs, staff, news and events that Kids On The Go provides. Additional requirements were to allow parents to download forms, sign up for events and purchase tickets or donate to fund raising events. Motor City Website Design designed a website using WordPress that gave Kids On The Go a professional, easy to navigate, easy to update and easy for users to find website.
Reclaimed Michigan began in 2014 when one of the owners found they couldn’t find the reclaimed barn wood needed for a home project. The idea was born to have a source for home owners, designers, builders and commercial construction folks to come for unique one of a kind barn wood and vintage finds. The business has grown from a small backyard business into a 7200 square foot warehouse filled with beams, siding, tin roof, live edge slab, shiplap and much more. Motor City Website Design used WordPress with a custom theme that accomplished the customer goals and allows for easy updates and additions as new services are offered.
